Using XP sp2 for years - got blue screen of death - tried system restore 3
times - no luck - reinstalled XP from original disk with SP1a on it - when I
try to reinstall SP2 on MSupdate, it tells me SP2 is already installed - SP2
doesn't show up on add/remove - can someone help me get rid of whatever is
telling update that I already have SP2 ? Please ???

Right click My Computer either on the Desktop or the Start Menu and
choose Properties. Which Version of XP does it say under System ?

Did you do a Repair installation or did you format the HD and reinstall
XP SP1a ?

Also, either download the entire SP2 package for potential future reuse
or order the CD. If you order the CD you pay only for the shipping:

Download
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Order
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...s/default.mspx

I don't remember exactly where but if I'm correct there is a registry setting
that the installer checks to see which SP you are at. [maybe somewhere in a
KB]

Can you boot in safe mode? If so, you can either do a rollback or remove the
offending driver. If you PC reboots automatically [so you can't see where the
problem is], you should be able to boot in safe mode and check the event logs
or uncheck the option to reboot after an error/BSOD.

Install anything recently that may include drivers? Can also do a system
restore.
