I don't mind his attitude at all. I can totally relate to
his anger and frustration, because I had his EXACT
same symptoms.
"Perception is reality"...if you've only applied SP2 to your
one computer and it totally breaks it, you don't give a
DAMN that a million other people did not have the
problem. So, "let the man be angry"!
What error code are you asking for? A boot loop is just
that...system starts to boot up, then does a reset, and booting
starts all over again. I could find NO WAY to get any error
information. (The kernel is presumably crashing, but it isn't
far enough along or whatever, so no 'BSOD' is shown.)
It took about 2-3 hours get the system back running, and then
re-patch back to SP1-A. Now, just like this person, we get to
sit around and just wonder how this machine is any different
than machines that do not have this symptom. We even
repeated the experiment, using a CDROM-based copy of
SP2 and got the same 'boot loop' result. So, yes, in MY
experience, the system was 'clean as a whistle' and still gets
totally hosed by SP2.
(One 'theory' that has been suggested is that the problem MIGHT
be a BIOS limitation, but we aren't feeling 'experimental' enough to
go thru BIOS upgrade and another 2 hour 'test' to see whether the
theory is correct.)
Cheers...
