sp2 security update

i keep getting a message that ineed to download and install Service security
pak sp2.
well when i got my new pc service pak 2 was aready installed, so when i try
in install it any way i get an error message unable to down load and install

Is it saying "Windows XP Service Pack 2" or "Office Service Pack 2"?

If you click on the Start Button, select "RUN", type in "winver" and click
OK - what version of Windows are you running?

If you run Microsoft Word, select Help from the menu at the top and select
"About" from that menu - what version of Office are you running?

If you download Windows XP Service Pack 2 from the internet (as a single
installation file) and run it - what errors do you get (if any)?

I am running Microsoft Windows 5.1 (Service PAck 2). I received an error
code (Ox87FF0004) for an automatic update of Windows XP Service PAck 2. Now,
I get an auto update message that I have new updates available (Critical
Update for Windows XP Service PAck 2, but the update does not complete and I
get a message about an unstable environment and telling me to uninstall
Service PAck 2. What should I do? If I uninstall Service PAck 2, what
issues would I have?

You actually get a message that specifically states you should uninstall
Service Pack 2?\
Or - you get a message that says that you perhaps should uninstall the last
critical updates you installed?

How long has SP2 been installed on your system?
Did you update your drivers (hardware)? Particularly - in your case - your
video drivers?
