When is the sp2 available for download? my pc is set to automatic updates
but the history of downloads does not list it as being downloaded nor do I
get message to install it. When I click on updates it scans and tells me
about sp2 and that I don't have to do anything to get it.
I am missing a piece of this puzzle. Kindly help.

With 100+ million downloads to make it's anyone's guess when it will arrive.
It is being distributed - so soon is all I can say.

If you select the Automatic Updates route, it will take some time (could be 1 or 2 days, or *more*) to actually show up.

Do you had an always on connection (broadband)? do you have XP Home or Pro ?
The XP Pro pc's selecting Automatic Updates are scheduled to *begin* (selectively) download on or about August 25.

MS appears to be staggering the Automatic Updates distribution.

I have xp home version with a cable connection. Since I have written the
inquiry I have reset my automatic updates time and will leave the pc on for
that time. So it's possible that MS has yet released the updates for the
home version?

Yes they have been updating XP Home pc's. It's only that it's deliberately staggered. Not everybody all at once.
