SP2 takes too much space to install

I just upgraded to the SP2 using microsoft auto update on-line.
It was estimated to take about <300 Mb to install the SP2, but it turns out
to be more than 600Mb.
I would not install it if it takes so much space on my tiny disk.
How do I know if there is any temporary file that can be deleted? And where
are those redundant files?
Please help.

Hi

For folders you can consider deleting and other disk cleanup tips
after a successful SP2 installation, take a look here:

The SP2 download should only be about 250 MB, maximum size. Are you sure
you aren't dealing with a bunch of other updates as well as Service Pack 2?

Thanks a lot. The information on the website is really helpful.
I found a folder in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download (about 400 MB)
that can be deleted.

Thank you for this link. It's also very informative, especially the part
about deteting %windir%\$NTUninstall that wasn't removed by SP2 installation.
Cool.

I checked the disk size immediately before and after the installation.
(Although the downloading interrupted becasue for some reason I rebooted my
laptop)
That was really unusual, but it did happend and I still don't know how.
But my C:\WINDOWS\$NTServicePackUinistall$ is about 240MB, which is quite
reasonable. Besides, the SP1 was removed automatically after SP2 installed.
Installation run smoothly except for the huge change on my disk size.
Strange.... >_<
