Can SP2 be uninstalled using Sytem restore, after setting a restore point?

I couldn't boot my sytem after installing SP2. I could,
however, get into safe mode where I was able to get to a
pre-SP2 restore point. According to add/remove programs,
SP2 is still on my system (somewhere) as it's an option
for removal. Haven't done it yet pending finding out
something useful...

No, you do not erase the disc or re-install XP . Removing XP service pack will take the system back to where it was before that update.

The Microsoft articles I cited show how to remove the SP2 update thru Control Panel, Add / Remove Programs .

Do follow good procedures before you apply "any" service pack.
