sp2 was uninstalled, now i want i reinstalled

I uninstalled xp sp2 and now I lost all of my settings, and who knows what
else. I thought that the system backed up the old settings while it was
uninstalling sp2. It said "copying files." There was no system restore that
can take me back. How do I reinstall sp2 with the settings back again if
possible, if not, how do i install sp2 again. Windows update will not let me
after i have uninstalled it.
