Unless HP has an issue with that specific model with SP-2, there is
some sort of hardware or software conflict.
Did you follow that ENTIRE checklist, going beyond drivers and
spyware?
Do you have access to another hard drive at least temporarily?
If so, swap it with original hard drive and install Windows only.
Then install SP-2.
If all works OK, you most likely have some sort of conflict with some
piece of installed software.
