SP2 Update Fail

After waiting 20 minutes or so for the Windows Installation Update to
complete a drop down window opens" Service Pack 2 Setup"
Access is Denied.
No explanation or details. ??????
So, I click OK, and the Removal Wizard runs for another 20 minutes, and at
the completion I am told that the removal might cause my computer not to run
as it should.
Now I'm between a rock and a hard place. What do I do now? I can't fix what
caused the failure, because I have no idea what it is.
Please advise.
Bob

Thank you for the reply, but your suggestions require computer knowledge
which is more advanced than I am able to understand and perform.
I should not have to go through this in the first place. I guess I'll stay
with SP 1.

Support for SP1 runs out at the end of this year - its important that you
get SP2 installed, as I understand the situation.
If you feel unable to cope, and I fully understand having been in the same
position myself on other matters, then seek a reliable local computer man to
do it for you.
Not an easy option I know - finding a good reliable one can be hit and miss.
But if I were in your position I would send off for the disk from MS - it
may be the best way to install.
Then you will have all the 60-70 security/critical patches to install after
you have done the SP2.

Thanks to all who offered help.
I think I'll order the CD and go from there.
