I installed this updated KB885932 and it seems to complete successfully, but
when I restart the computer and try to start up IE it installs the update
over and over again never allowing the browser to open. Can I get rid of
this update or can someone please let me know what is going on?

I think you can get rid of any update from Add-Remove Programs from your
Control Panel

Nope that didn't work. I don't know what the update is for or what it is
called besides kb885932. Sounds like a good strain of something.

I had a similar Problem and MS sent me this fix.

As I understand it, your Windows XP is constantly trying to run windows
update

Please try the following:

Click on Start and then Run.
Type cmd and press ok.
This will open a black window.
Type cd C:\windows\system32\catroot2
Press enter
Type attrib -h -s -r C:\windows\system32\catroot2
Press the enter key
Type attrib -h -s -r C:\windows\system32\catroot2\*.*
Press enter

The next time you install an update this problem should go away.

That didn't seem to work either. I tried reinstalling the update with the
same result. Perhaps the next update I install will make the problem go
away. I just want to use IE. Thanks anyway

If you need help you need to give more informative feedback than that.

One might guess from this that "didn't work" really means
"couldn't find it listed in Add/Remove Programs"?

<title>Internet Explorer stops responding or crashes, and you receive
an access violation in Vgx.dll, when you view a Web page in Internet Explorer 6.0</title>

So how did you manage to acquire this Hotfix?
The KB article says we have to contact Product Support Services
to get a copy of it.

BTW what version of vgx.dll do you have now?
And, in case it matters, which brand of Tablet PC
do you have? Etc.
