SP2 Update Won't Allow Proper Startup - Help!

Installed Windows Update SP2 on an HP Pavilion ze4400, which will not
properly startup now. Will only startup in safe mode and even then the
Internet connection doesn't work (for instance). I have no idea what to do!
Please help.

I'm having the same problem with an IT Works Computer. I have installed all
the SP1 updates with no problems (Yet!). I have tried several times to
install the SP2 update but each time I have had to restore my system. ASnyone
out there got any idea?

In addition to Rock's reply - what happens exactly when you try to boot up
normally? In safe mode, what do you see in your event logs? Look for errors
there and post back with what you find. Note also that you might get more
help in m.p.windowsxp.general as your question doesn't concern Windows
Update itself.....
