SP2 upgrade = power management problems

Immediately after I upgraded (without issue) to SP2 via windowsupdate.com,
I've experienced the following:
1) Laptop does not shutdown completely.
2) System hangs/freezes when I pull the power cable from back of laptop
3) System hangs/freezes after going into standby mode.

I have an "emachines" laptop, 1 year old, no prior problems.

Help!

I have the exact same problems, and then a few more, with an emachines laptop
as well. I'm trying to get in touch with emachines, but they are'nt exactly
being helpful. If I find anything more I'll post it.

I also have an eMachines laptop M6811,under 1 year old. EXACT same
experience. Emachines blames it on spyware. I have not been able to find
any spyware on my pc. I gave up after the third attempt on SP2.
