sp2 upgrade- right click on start menu or icons hangs computer

following sp2 upgrade i cannot right click on start button, delete any menu
items or icons. 'Dr watson debug has encountered an error' is shown and
system hangs. anybody any clues! Unable to system resore to point before sp2,
stops and says it is incomplete.
