SP2 Virus Protection

Hi,

I just installed SP2 and I understand that in Control Panel - Security
Center there should be an icon for virus protection. This icon is not there
for me to configure (shut off) virus protection, since I use Norton AV &
Firewall. How can I configure MS virus protection, since I can't seem to
get to it.

Thanks,

Tom

Microsoft does not offer its own virus protection at all.
The Windows Security Center only monitors third-party
antivirus programs, XP's built-in firewall or third-party
firewall, and the status of automatic Windows Updates.

There is no virus protection in SP2! Continue to use your Norton AV.
However there is a firewall in SP2 that you can use. I decided to uninstall
SP2 after I found out that my printer no longer worked after I installed it.
Neither Microsoft nor Lexmark could help me with the problem either. Finally
Microsoft "suggested" that I hold off re-installing the SP2 update until
someone solved the problem. SP2 has too many bugs in it for my liking, so I
will hold off for a while. Do what you want but at the first sign of
something not working right, look to uninstall SP2 and I bet your problem
just goes away.

Your info may be very useful to me as I have had no luck completing the
install of my Lexmark printer after upgrading to XP with SP2.

Is it possible to just uninstall SP2 without installing all of XP?

Thanks.

Sure thing! Just go to Start, Control Panel, Add Or Remove Programs and look
for the uninstall of SP2. That's the way I did it. What Lexmark Printer do
you have? Answer to if you would. Thanks. Maybe we can do
something with Lexmark as a group! ???

I am using Lexmark X1150 with no problem. I have SP2 installed. Printer,
scanner and copy functions are normal, I do know that Lexmark has upgraded
drivers for "some" of their models, this upgrades are SP2 related. Check
Lexmark's download site to see if your models are affected.

I too have a Lexmark X1150 and have updated my printer driver with the latest
from Lexmark. Where on the Lexmark download site did you find information on
SP2 related problems? I used the driver CJXP1100EN.EXE. Is this the one you
used?
