Hello, fellow SP2 downloaders! I talked to a Microsoft Representative. He
said that SP2 will be in wide release on the 25th. That means anyone who runs
a manual scan (launches the Windows Update browser window from the Program
Menu), will see and be able to download and install the SP2 update. Just
think, only two more days! Hope this information is helpful to fellow users.

Does that mean that we won't have to go through that process that is now? Or
what does that mean like we can update it like we have been doing instead of
this way?

It means that if you have Windows XP, when you go to Windows Update (on August 25 or later) ----just the same way you now go to Windows Update ---- if you don't already have Service Pack 2, you'll be able to get it at that visit.

How long does it take to install SP2 and do you need to backup the computer?
I get express or custom now how much more is there to download? Do I install
both express or custom or just one?

Around 40 to 45 minutes by my experience, to run thru the XP Service Pack 2 update process ---- that's for the "full update/network" file, and that's NOT the on-line Windows Update.

Yes, you should definitly make a backup beforehand.

On Windows Update site, whther you choose express or custom, the SP2 download amount is the same.
Choose one of them.
