SP2--Windows won't shut down

I downloaded and installed SP2 and after installation, windows would not shut
down. After a couple of days ( after asking Microsoft for help and recieving
no reply), I uninstalled SP2 ( was able to shut down fine then) and
re-installed it later (again would not shut down). So now I have uninstalled
it again(shuts down fine now). Does anyone have a suggestion as to why this
is happening with SP2 and what may be the solution??

Try disabling the 'Automatic Updates' service (using run>services.msc). I
found that after installing SP2 my computer appeared not to shut down (in
fact if you waited two minutes it went to the shutdown choices, then a
further two minutes it finally shut down). Disabling 'Automatic Updates'
solved this - back to instant shutdown. But now I can't get updates.....

Check your Power Management settings. Get into Control Panel----Power
Management---and turn on APM ---Advanced Power Management .

I am having the same problem with my laptop. In addition, I can go into but
can't come out of suspend mode. Has anyone found the solution yet?
