SP2 with Windows XP taking hours to download

To access the network for my school, I have to download the SP2. The window
that shows the progress of the download says that 10.5 MB of the 268 MB have
currently downloaded, but I've been waiting for three hours so far. I have
tried disconnecting and reconnecting as well as restarting the computer, but
it does not help. The page that tells about the download says that it will
be 75 MB and take an estimated 40 minutes, so why is it taking so long with
so little progress? Any suggestions welcome--online homework is impossible
until I download the SP2.

You can get a copy of the CD free at a variety of places, like Staples
and attached to many PC magazines.
