sp2, xp pro and print spooler

I installed sp2, had problems with setting up a network printer and was
advised to uninstall sp2. Print spooler disappeared, did chkdsk /r three
times, nothing. Put back sp2, all fine. Any ideas as I want to set up network
printer and can't with sp2 on there. Thanks
