SP3 Installation

Good Morning,
Last night I attempted to install SP3 on a laptop (Dell bought about
2002 it is a real dog because of its speed but has been reliable over
the years. In any event as the process moved along eventually a message
popped up that said "Access Denied" I had been logged on as
administrator so I really do not understand the error message. Any
ideas about what is going on. The SP3 file did download but,
installation failed.

Any searches performed using Google or throughout these newsgroups (using
Google Groups or your newsreader?)

Service Pack 3 for Windows XP "Access Denied" issue:

(I suggest Method 3...)

Actually that was going to be my next step. I live by the motto "Google
is your friend" while using a pc.
