Oh, go grind your axe elsewhere!
1. The thread to which you refer above (which really was about your issues
in this thread in WinXP General newsgroup, where said issues were in fact
resolved:
http://groups.google.com/group/micro...67dbadf75919fc)
had NOTHING whatsoever to do with WinXP SP3 and dates from mid-April 2007,
more than a year before WinXP SP3 was released!
2. If you start a security update-related support incident via
https://support.microsoft.com/oas/de...spx?gprid=6527 or by calling
1-866-PCSAFETY (US & CA only), clearly state that your problem relates to a
security update, and do NOT ask any other questions, the support is free!
That being said...
US residents can indeed obtain free support for WinSP3 installation and
compatibility issues (only) here (through May 2009):
http://support.microsoft.com/oas/def...3&gprid=522131
All three (3) support options (Email; Chat; Phone) are clearly marked
"No-charge: Unlimited support requests."
