I installed sp3 successfully (I thouht) about 2 weeks ago. However, I have
discovered that I can no longer use the XP Recovery Console (which I have
installed as part of my bootup). Whenever I try, I get the dreaded 'BSOD'.
Fortunately, all I have to do is shut down my machine and restart normally.
I am going to deal with this by waiting for final version of SP3 to come out
on CD and then do a complete new install of XP from scratch as I have some
other lingering issues from past video card upgrades to deal with anyhow. If
anyone has any ideas on how to deal with this short of a new install, feel
free to post any ideas as I know the recovery console can be a real lifesaver
sometimes.

You don't have to wait for the SP3 CD - there is an ISO image available for
download from the Microsoft download page - burn your own.

Also, you could slipstream the SP3 download with your original XP CD and,
again, burn a CD - this time an XP w/SP3 CD.

The final version of SP3 is out.

You can download the CD ISO file and burn that yourself.
You can also download the IT install and integrate that into your Windows XP
CD.

Thanks to both of you (so far) who have replied so quickly. I will definitely
go out and follow your suggestions. You will have saved me a nice amount of
time in doing this. Thanks again!
