So what do I have to do this time to get your software to run? Or do I just
turn the updates off and wait for ver SP4? I have SP2 with IE8 just
installed yesterday but SP3 HAS BEEN trying to install for 2 weeks now. Is
there a file I can D/L for sp3 and execute manually so that I don't d/l
everyday while I try to get this to work? I have dial-up and its killing my
connection when auto updates keep tying up the connection speeds. This way I
can just click the file if I had to make a change and not d/l it all over
tommorrow. I also have AVG with firewall and get all other updates fine,
just SP3 giving me the problem! Also it doen't give a reason why it doesn't
install just that it failed. It would be nice to have a error code. We are
loyal pc users but look at the volume of problems... Things have to change.

When in doubt... Re-Test before release! Before your customers become mac
users.

WinXP SP3 - Read all prerequisites for a successful installation
http://msmvps.com/blogs/harrywaldron...tallation.aspx

[i.e., disable AVG AntiVirus & Firewall then enable the Windows Firewall
prior to your next attempt to install SP3.]

You may also want to see the following before installing SP3...

Unless you've been monkeying around, the installer for SP3 has already
downloaded, Tim. Try installing SP3 (per the above) manually via
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com.

PS: MS was offering free support for SP3 installation issues for over a year
but that ship has sailed now.
