SP4 update Win2000 professional problem

I have downloaded sp4 and been successful. Now the problem. When it starts
the installation it quickly flashes an install window then disappears leaving
me with no sp4 installed. So I go back to the update window and select check
for updates and lo and behold sp4 shows up again. I am stuck in this loop.
Can anyone get me out of this?

Download and save it from here:

Disconnect from the internet. Empty all Temporary and Temporary Internet
Files. Disable the installed antivirus. Check the Hard Drives integrity
by running Chkdsk. Defragment it afterwards.
Install SP4. Restart the system.
Reenable the AV. Reconnect to the internet.
