After installing the latest two updates, which I got yesterday, the Malicious
Software update, and the one before, My D and E drives, both CD drives,
stopped working, and my speakers fail to produce any sound. I checked the
Sounds and Audio Devices category in Control Panel, and it said, 'No Audio
Device' even though I have speakers installed and connected to the computer
(Kinyo Audio Zone 2.0) It was working fine before I restarted my computer Has
this ever happened before, and if so, how do I fix it besides going to a
technician? That's always my last resort, though.

Have you tried a system restore?

A system restore should work- I have had exactly the same issue after
installing SP2 with not being able to run files from the CD. If you do a
search on the discussion threads you will discover numerous other postings
regarding the same problem. I could not find a solution though! This means
that I cannot install SP2 and use a CD - I have reported my problem over the
web to the online support today, hopefully I will receive a useful reply to
this issue as many people seem to be affected by it.

I will let you know.
