Speaker feedback

I have a lenovo 3000 N100 notebook using Vista Home Premium. When closing
the lid in safe mode, I get feedback from the speakers. I tried disabling
the microphone, but it still squeels. I have to mute the speakers before
closing the lid. How can I remedy this so that I do not have to mute the
speakers? This is just a recent occurance in the past month and does not
happen every time I close the lid.
