Speakers and full screen problem

I'm running XP 2 and finally got WMP 10 to stop shutting off my computer.
now, only one speaker is picking up the sound.

All the volume controls are unmuted and I installed the codecs associated to
version 10. (I think I got them all anyway)

The speakers are plugged in correctly and are functional in other devices.
The WAVE balance option causes all sound to stop when sliding it to the
right.

Anyone know what, if any extra downloads required with the 10 version or
hotfixes that might correct this?

Also, I have the full screen option set to auto-hide the menu bar but it's
not working in 'full screen mode' from the media library. What setting makes
the top and bottom panels 'disappear' while viewing a visualization?

Hi,
Try this,
1) In Controlo Panel \ Audio Device Properties,
Under "Speaker settings"
Speaker Volume, click "Restore Defaults"
Advanced Button, under Speaker setup, make sure that
"Desktop Stereo Speakers" is selected.
2) Media Player
Tools
Options
Performance tap
Under "Video accelerations"
Advanced
Untick "Use full-screen Controls" Apply\OK
Rgrds,

Thanks! I got the full screen to show up but my computer is crashing again.
Any idea what could be causing this?

The speakers seem to be having an outlet problem. Do you know if there is
anything like a USB adapter that you can plug a speaker set into?

Hi,
You didn't mention crashing of your computer at your first post!?
Concerning the speaker problem, try to update the driver of your soundcard.

Hi,

Thanks for the info.

I'm sorry I didn't find this site sooner, although I think it's the outlet
on the computer.....I added Windows Defender & MS Security Essentials, while
looking for drivers. Doing the updates. PROGRESS!!!

H.S.D.

btw, I meant it was shutting down/crashing my computer not just the player
but the drivers might just do it. I really thought it was only the player so
again, thanks so much for the driver check advise! Much appreciated!
