Its interesting you say painful. The majority of notebooks I see out there
are running Windows Vista, ask those users users if they would like a
downgrade to XP, and the answer is most likely to be a big fat no. Windows
Vista had a rough release initially because of issues that have plagued
every version of Windows, device driver and application compatibility. But a
lot has changed since the first 3 to 5 months on the market. Saying Windows
7 is the answer does not make sense, 7 is built on top of Windows
Vista/Server 2008 SP1. They share the same code and level of compatibility.
