Spell check won't work

I've gone into WORD OPTIONS, under PROOFING and have checkied or unchecked
everything except HIDE... ERRORS. My spell check won't work. The grammar
works. What am I not doing or what is the program not doing that should be
done?

Please ask Word questions in a Word newsgroup, not here in a Windows
XP one. The Word newsgroups are where the Word experts hang out, and
you are much more likely to get the help you need there.

Try running the Microsoft Office Diagnostics:
Word Options > Resources > run Microsoft Office Diagnostics.
