splash screeen changes from windows xp to windows after sp2 upgrad

I just upgraded from xp pro to sp2 xp pro. When the splash screen is shown
upon startup the screen show windows xp, not windows xp pro. Does this change
mean that the upgrade changed the inner workings of the system to a non pro
version or did it occur as a space saving item for the graphic designers?

No. Microsoft decided to have a uniform splash screen for all XP versions.
It's normal.
