Just read a thread on Vista security, downloaded Spybot S&D. Does it run
across users or must I run it under each user?

Thank you,
Ed

It gets things not related to specific users but after the initial scan you
should log into each user account and run it there again to remove
user-specific items.

Another excellent free malware scanner that will take care of all user
accounts at once is MalwareBytes' Antimalware (mbam). I usually install
mbam on clients' machines routinely and only use Spybot when I'm actually
cleaning a machine.
