Spyware killed Update - how to re-install?

Spyware killed Windows Update. I can't run Microsoft Update either. Here's
the Windows Update error I get:

[Error number: 0x8DDD0004]
The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are
trying to view. Take the following steps to try solving the problem:
Refresh the page.
In Internet Explorer, delete your Temporary Internet Files by going to the
Tools menu and clicking Internet Options.
Close and then re-open Internet Explorer.


Of course those fixes don't work. How do I remove and re-install or fix this
error? When I try to run Microsoft Update, it keeps telling me I have to
accept the ActiveX control, which of course I have already done numerous
times.

Don't know - not my computer - removed 300+ instances of spyware. SpyBot
update would not work either until I removed 200 spyware with AdAware first.
All clean now. I did find how to reinstall in another post and it worked.
Yes, I should have searched first. Sorry. Now I have a new problem, but will
post separately.
