To all,
I am installing a SSL VPN solution that checks to make sure a connecting
system is patched and up to date. It can do this if I tell it what to look
for. For instance, when Panda Anti-Virus software is out of date there is a
registry entry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Panda Software\Panda Antivirus
Platinum OUTDATED that changes from 0 to 1. I can set the SSL VPN unit to
allow or deny connection based upon what it finds on the system when it
checks the registry and or for files.
Is there a registry setting that can be checked for needed Windows Updates?
When the balloon shows up in the system tray stating that there are Updates
that need to be, or have been, downloaded there must be a setting SOMEWHERE
that can be checked to see its value.
To maintain a list of released patches and check for each patch being
installed is not an option, as that would require a great deal of work to
maintain this list, especially on Tuesdays. We really would like to check for
the icon is the system tray because that one answer would tell us whether the
PC is up to date with its patches or not.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance for
your answer,
