Standard installation path

I have a very small c:\ drive and I need to install new programs o
other drives than c:

Some programs, like Adobe Reader and Google Earth will not let m
choose installation path

Is it possible f.ex to make an evironment variable that will direct al
installation to a path that I can decide

Hi,

It's not an environmental variable, it's a path setting in the registry. Run
regedit, navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion

Locate ProgramFilesDir in the right pane, double click this string and
change the value data to the preferred path. Close the registry editor and
reboot when finished. If you're running the 64-bit version, you may also
want to alter the (x86) value as well (but don't use the same path as for
the first one.
