Recently I bought a new PC (Asus A8N-SLI Premium, Gigabyte GF6600GT
GV-NX66T128D-SP, NEC MultiSync LCD20WGX2). After installation of all drivers
provided with hardware standby mode worked perfectly. Unfortunatelly then I
started updating my Windows XP Professional SP2 ENG (MSDN Academic Alliance
license). One of the critical updates damaged the functionality of standby
mode.
Standby now don't power down cpu fan for example. I'm also unable to recover
from this mode. HDDs starts but monitor don't. Only reset is available.
I've reinstalled Windows few times and the problem always occurs after
installing a package of about 30-40 critical Windows XP updates.
Maybe one of you had the same problem and knows a solution to this. I don't
have time and patience to install all updates one by one and check which one
causes troubles.
