Start Menu Disappears

I have Vista Ultimate on a new Lenovo X61 notebook.
Since a few days, when I go to 'All Programs' and select a program, the list
of programs disappears before I can select that program.
I tried to restore my notebook, but that was not possible and then I
reformated the notebook to its original state, meaning as it came new a few
weeks ago. That made no difference and the problem with the start menu
remains.
Does anyone has a solution ?

I've got exactly the same problem using a toshiba satellite p22 runnin
core duo t7250 2Mhz with a ati hd2600 card. Aswell as loosing the star
menu when i click on anything, i also have a flickering around any ope
windows, just on the edge where the vista window shadow appears which i
hughly annoying. Also when I try to move windows across the screen th
jump back to their original position. To the poster did you find
solution to the problem at all?
I havent gone for full restore yet but have searched endlessly for
solution? any ides anyone

pandansk, I am using a toshiba satellite with centrino duo. I a
experiencing the same problem as you have described. I have been usin
this laptop from four month and this problem started a couple of week
ago. I have tried removing non-OS S/W removing my laptop from LAN to n
avail. Next stop recover from disks... unless you can say whether yo
found a workaround/solution to your problem... Cheers, lmcmac

I have the same problem and if someone could post in here how to fix
this that would be great I know its a old post but im having the same
prbln now.
