Can you do a System Restore to an earlier point in time before you started
experiencing this problem?

Start > type Command Prompt > right-click it and click "Run as
administrator".
Type in: SFC /SCANNOW and press your Enter key.

If that does not work, try repairing your system. Boot from your Windows
Vista DVD, select the System Repair Option > on the setup screen, select
'Repair Computer > Select your installation of Windows > select Startup
Repair option and follow instructions.

When you hit the Windows key, any response?

A common but practical guess is that your computer has virus, check it out.
recommend Kaspersky. I hope that they are just "hidden" other than
"disappeared".

Before all of this ,try if you could do this: press "Ctrl + Alt + Del"at the
same time then choose Task Manager, check if there are any suspicious
process. You can simply press "Windows + R", then input "explorer.exe", see
if everything gets OK.

If not, try the last thing: restore you Vista, or reinstall it. It takes you
only about 20-30 minutes to install a new Vista. But you have to spend a lot
of time install and configure other programs.Remember to keep a backup of
you Operating System next time~
