Start Menu Icons Unusable

Hi All,

I have Vista Business.
Everytime I try to use the start menu icons, the start menu disappears and
does not load the application.
This is also the case with trying to shutdown the laptop.
I have tried to change the menu from Classic syle to Vista style, but no
cigar.
Appreciate your earliest reply.

Do shortcuts to programs work elsewhere, like those you might have on your
Desktop? Or are only those in your Start Menu not working?

Only in the start menu. All others are OK.
I can navigate it with the KB, but anything mouse related is buggered.

I have found the same problem on my new laptop. When I use the "Classic Start
Menu" it makes the menu disappear when I hit, or tap, the track pad buttons.
But it I navigate to the menu and hover the mouse, but then hit enter the
application loads like intended. Track pad works with new Vista program menu,
but I hate the new start menu in Vista, or that fact XP too.
