Start Menu won't launch applications

I have a strange problem where some of my applications listed on the list of
recently used programs (seen when clicking the start button) won't launch
when clicked. I thought it was only Microsoft Office applications but today
I noticed Adobe wouldn't launch.

For those apps that don't launch, I have to go to All Programs and then find
the application. I have never seen or heard of this before and hope there
is an easy fix.

I just upgraded to Vista Enterprise edition and have MS Office 2007
installed along with VS 2008, SQL Server 2005, etc.

Thanks,
Jason

I have the same problem. Outlook will come up but Word and Excel will not
come up from the start menu. If you get any answers please let me know.
Thank you!!

Yeah, that's weird... have you looked at the property settings for the
entries on the recently used programs list? Have you tried right clicking
and using "run as administrator?" Not saying that either is an answer...
just trying to find out why those shortcuts don't work while the "regular"
shortcuts in All Programs do...

Yep, looked at the properties and they are exactly the same - pointing to the
same shortcut location. its driving me crazy - i don't understand why some
programs will launch while others won't.

when i right click the program, there isn't a run as administrator option.

You may need to "take ownership"
