When I start or restart

Do I have to have an acct. name and password or can I just start or restart
without name or password? I'm the owner/administrator and the only person who
can even get to this puter.

No password is needed/required.

I'm new to Vista. I ran across an option to remove or change my password,
acct., etc.
Can't find it again. Can you tell me how?

I'm two-months "new".

Control Panel (Classic view - on the left panel)

User Accounts.

If you already have a password, I don't know if you'll be able to
change to "no password" because I don't have a password and the only
option there for me is to set one.

You don’t need a password.
(I use a password in case of theft. Vista is very security heavy and it is
almost impossible to get around that password.)

You already have a user or administrator account or else you wouldn’t be
able to get to Vista desktop. If you haven’t already, you might want to
establish yourself as the administrator to avoid confusion later when UAC
issues come up.

Go to:

Control Panel\User Accounts and Family Safety\User Accounts.

There’s also good info about accounts, security and passwords in Help and
Support on your menu.

I have Vista Home Premium with SP 1 installed a couple months ago. Laptop.
These settings will bring you to a working desktop after waking up from
Hibernate.
1) Control Panel\User Accounts and Family Safety\User Accounts > password
deleted from Administrator password. (I had initially logged onto the welcome
screen as the Administrator, password protected, but later changed it to
bypass welcome screen with user account icons.)
2) Control Panel\System and Maintenance\Power Options >require a password on
wake up
Click on “change settings that are currently available� then select “Don’t
require a password.� Save.
Now every time I wake up from hibernate the screen goes to the working
desktop.

If you have those settings and computer still doesn’t wake up to a working
desktop and since Power Settings differ with computer models, you might want
to check if there are any parameters that need to be set in the computer’s
present Power Mode.
