"Start up rpair is checking your system for problems...

If problems are found, Startup Repair will fix them automatically. Your
computer might restart sevral times during this process.

No changes will be made to your personal files or information. This might
take sevral minutes.

Attempting Repairs...
Repairing disk errors. This might take over an hour to complete."

I let it do it's thing for about 8 hours now, nothing has happened. How do I
fix this?

I know it's been ages for you guys but hopefully you see this. I fixe
my issue, which was the same as yours. It just sat at attempting repair
for hours. What I did though was the followin

1. Boot up with Vista install dis
2. Select the necessary options and hit nex
3. Hit next again once I had the OS selecte
4. Then it went to searching for problems..
5. Then it came up with a box to say Restore or Cancel. (Usually
would hit restore and it would just say attempting repairs forever
6. Instead, hit cancel, and it will come up with saying it couldn't fi
the issue.
7. At the bottom there are 2 options, "View log of diagnostics" o
"View Advanced Options" (hit the second one
8. This brings up that menu that you should've gotten even if you hi
restore. From here you can choose to either restore, complete p
restore, etc.

Hopefully you can figure out how to get here with these steps and b
able to restore your computer to an earlier time when it worked

Best of luck

-Sci
