Start video call from a keystroke?

Let's try this again... : )

I'm using a Logitech Cordless Desktop keyboard, which has a few customizable
keys. The Setpoint driver is version 3.1.116. I also have a Logitech
QuickCam Communicate STX webcam. My computer is running Windows XP Pro SP2.

I'd like to be able to hit a custom key, or key combination, to quickly
start a video call over Windows Live Messenger.

Is this possible? How is it done? Is there a reference for command line
switches for WMLive?

Thanks

Greetings,

No command line switches for this. There's APIs to do this and a protocol handler, but you
may have to write some code to handle it.

There aren't any real command line switches.

To do this, you can create an internet shortcut and put the URL as
msnim:video?contact=email@address. Once you've done this, bind your key to
run that shortcut.

It will pop up a browser window, then ask if you want to make the call.

Not pretty, but it works.

Hi,

Yeah, but you have to know the e-mail address of the person, hence code to obtain that info.

Well... You need their email address to add them to your messenger list as
well, so that's a given.
