I have a USB drive connected to a laptop that is shareable over my internal
network, everything OK there, but how do I access this drive from outside my
local network, eg.g from my work location?

TIA

Hi,

You'd have to setup a web or ftp server via IIS to access it from outside
your internal lan. Be aware that if you can access it, so can others.

Easiest way is to use something like TeamViewer.
www.teamviewer.com
File transfer speed will not be that fast though.

Setting up an FTP server is more involved, but you will get much better
speeds. There are free servers, like FileZilla.

I used WebDAV shares as well, but you need IIS for that.

Another thing you can use is a VPN, but that is more involved as well. I
have never been able to get the simple VPN server in XP/2003 to work. The
one built-in to my Draytek router works well though.

ss.
