Startup Programs buy User Account

With XP you could always edit the individual users startup folder to add
remove startup items.

I am new to Vista and not sure of how to do this.

My first observation is that as the Admin on the machine, I see
Users\Name\AppData\Roaming\M$\Win\Start Menu\Program\Startup

For my wife's account, I can see the AppData folder and subsequent sub
folders !
Same with Public

So my question is, how to I prevent certain items that startup for me to not
start for her when she logs on?
And secondly, why am I (admin) not able to see her AppData folder ?
And lastly, where would the common startup items be for all users ?

You already hit upon it. The startup folder under %userprofile% applies only
to the individual user.

Because by design even an admin account does not run with sufficient
elevated privileges. Nor will it have the proper permissions. The security
design of Vista keeps the user's access to only it's own user environment
and the shared one. One cannot access system folders or other user accounts
unless permission is specifically invoked. This prevents malware from
infecting an entire system by using the admin privileges users typically ran
with in XP and previous versions of Windows.

HKLM run keys in the registry.

You should be able to. When you click on her folder you
should see the security prompt. Once you get passed that you
should be able to navigate to the folder.
