Ok... I'm getting tired of the startup tasks when I start windows, they take
forever to load. There is a way to get rid of them, but I forgot where to
go...

Can someone please help me!? They drive me crazy.

Thanks

Ryan

Ryan;
Since this is a Windows Update newsgroup, you should ask this in a
Windows 98 newsgroup:
http://aumha.org/nntp.htm

Run option on Start button.

Type MSCONFIG

One of the tabs has a list where you can uncheck the items you don't
want to run at startup.

Sure, that would be a bit more specific, but I don't see anything in the
group title that limits topics to ME, 2K, NT or XP. And Windows 98 does
have a built in "Windows Update" function.

If the post is off topic it's because the issue doesn't appear to be the
result of the Windows 98 update function or reflect a need for that
function.

Robert;
You are correct in that this newsgroup is for all operating systems.
But the topic is Windows Update.
An OS having Windows Update does not qualify unless the issue is
related to Windows Update, this issue does not.

Asking a question in the wrong group is likely to get a wrong or
incomplete answer such as a reference to MSCONFIG to stop
applications.
The correct answer will have the reference in MSCONFIG removed,
otherwise it is a band-aid instead of a fix.
The experts in the correct newsgroup have a better chance of giving
the correct solution.
The OP is more likely to get the correct answer for Windows 98 in a
Windows 98 newsgroup.
