Status:-Appear Offline wont go away.

Vista Home Pre. Win Live Mess Ver8.1 (Build 8.1.0178.00)
I can't get rid of the 'Appear off line' status.
Surely there is an quicker way to fix the prob than uninstalling and
reinstalling!

Hi Ted,

8.5 is a far better version from 8.1, just in terms of some really annoying bugs that got
fixed behind the scenes.

Although I'm not sure what you were exactly trying to fix? If you just needed to change your
default status when you sign in, just signing out, changing it to another status in the main
Messenger window and then signing in would have corrected it.

Ahhhh got it.
"changing it to another status in the MAIN MESSENGER WINDOW and then signing
in would have corrected it."

I'm having the same problem Ted does/did. I've reinstalled to 8.5,
changed my loggin status and back again every way I can think of, and to no
avail, I still show up as offline. Dunno how long this was going on for. A
friend just notified me of this about two weeks ago, and I've been trouble
shooting ever since.

I've done searches on this problem and looked everywhere I can think of.
Anyone have any idea what the issue may be, or how to resolve it??

Any and all help is GREATLY appreciated!!!

Yeah, that would make sense wouldn't it?? I've done that, I've
reinstalled the program, and anything else I can think of. All my settings
should show me as online.

I've tried everything I can think of to no avail.

Hi Darrick,

Then tried uninstalling Windows Live Messenger and its other software.
Reboot and run a Windows Registry Cleaner like TuneUp Utilities 2008 located
at http://www.tune-up.com/download/.

You might wish to run TuneUp's DiskCleaner, before running its Registry
Cleaner.

After running the Cleaner, reboot and reinstall Windows Live Messenger.
Make sure that your Software Firewall is on and your Anti-Virus is off.
