I've tried one of the betas of version 8.x and I briefly toyed with the new
8.1.x, and I'm not convinced of the necessity to make a permanent switch.
There is a major lag when attempting to use the scroll bar when the main
window is open, and I don't like the way the contacts are set out, ie click
on "send an instant message" and you have to try finding the contacts who are
currently ONLINE amongst the ones who are not. Are there any plans to return
this to the way it's set in 7.5? And is it really necessary to include past
contact listings with whom one has lost touch years ago?

Greetings Dave,

Actually you can actually turn a lot of the new sorting behavior off, as well as remove the
"non-instant messaging contacts" which are the old contacts you're seeing. This can be done
in the Contacts menu (press Alt-C in the main window if the menu is hidden), then Sort/View
and Filter options there.
