Still cannot dowload SP2

I'm running windows XP Home in my Desktop PC. I still cannot download SP2.
However I was succesfull down loading it into my laptop. Everytime I want to
download SP2 in my desktop for unknow reason I will not make it beyond the
"Checking for updates, depending on your speed this process may take several
minutes" page, well I already waited 2 days (have cable modem) and still the
same screen. Is there anything I cold do besides waiting ? I can't even
downloaded manually because I got no option from the update webpage all what
is says is "Checking for updates, depending on your speed this process may
take several minutes". Any help or advice will be welcome
