Still have "Error number: 0x800C0002" when trying to download upda

Greetings.

After posting my problem a few days I am still at the same place in my
dilemma regarding downloading window XP updates.

After posting in this forum that I received Error number: 0x800C0002 when I
try to access the windows update site, I was offered the following
information below as possible help. (Thank you TaurArian for the help!)



1. Click on Start, Run and type "REGEDIT" (w/o the quotes). The Registry
Editor will open.

2. Navigate to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\WindowsUpdate\I
UControl

3. If you wish to visit the live (non-Beta) Windows Update web site, make
sure that the "identserver" value is blank or nonexistent.


( I have no idea how to identify if any of the below files are the
“identserver� from my IUControl. I have typed out exactly what my IUControl
folder holds below.)

(default) REG_SZ (value not set)
Historical Speed REG_DWORD 0x000050d0 (20688)
SelfUpdateStatus REG_DWORD 0x00000000 (0)
TimeElapsed REG_DWORD 0x00000db9 (3513)


So, I am at a loss here. Does the above information help at all? If not,
or if it appears that my problem lies elsewhere, can anyone guild me? I am
not really that computer savvy and any help would be *very* appreciated.

Did you read the other suggestions, this seems to be a problem with either the
link or the SSL
