I'm running XP Home. I get a bubble message telling me that updates are
available. I click on it and it brings up a list of updates with check marks
beside them. I click the download button and nothing happens - the automatic
update icon disappears and there's no indication of any activity. i've
checked network traffic and there's no
noticable increase. I've looked around the filesystem for places where the
update files would likely be (eg. C:\WINDOWS\Windows Update Setup Files) and
i can't find any new files.
how do i fix
this? I already tried getting rid of everything in the "C:\Program
Files\WindowsUpdate" and "C:\Program Files\WindowsUpdate\V4" folders except
iuhist.xml ( I found this in a MS KB article) but it didn't work. any help
is greatly appreciated.

Turn off automatic updates and go to the site and manually download it.
There seems to be a glitch as someone else had said in the "automatic
updating" of sp2
"automatic downloading" i mean
