Hi All:
Ed, Erik speaks the truth. More specifically, the "Update Rollup 1 for
Windows 2000 Service Pack 4" will break certain xml and asp functionality.
My Veritas 9.1 web admin console and my Symantec Rapid Release updates both
were also broken after installing the Rollup from the new Microsoft Update
site.
Here's what I did to fix ALL of my problems in one fell swoop:
Go to the Microsoft Downloads Centre and do a search for "Update Rollup for
Windows 2000 Service Pack 4". Download and install this on your affected
machines (works for both Win2K servers and workstations). You should then be
able to go back to the new Microsoft Update site without any errors. It is
then safe to continue installing any further updates from the Microsoft
Update site. Any other app breaks may also get fixed by this (as did mine).
Good luck!
